HELLO LONDON | KINGS OF LEON – WHEN YOU SEE YOURSELF TOUR

Hello Beautiful Souls. It was an exciting summer this year because I went to see my favourite band! The Kings of Leon was my third concert this year. [Whoop Whoop]. My dream came true that day. I finally saw them perform LIVE. The band exceeded all my expectations and are such great performers. The sound, visual effects and performance were outstanding.

The night started with The Vaccines. I didn’t know them before, but [let me tell you] got one great band richer that night. [MAYBE YOU WILL TOO?] A great Indie Rock band formed in [West] London.

Then finally, KOL [Kings of Leon] came up. From the start, they performed their songs back to back, “When you see yourself, are you far away” to “Sex on Fire”. Lots of songs from different albums. Such as “The Bandit”, “Slow night, So Long” [I love this song], “King of the Rodeo”, “Taper Jean Girl”, “Knocked up”, “Manhattan”, “Time in Disguise”, “Waste a Moment”, “Radioactive”, “On-Call”, “Pyro”, “Closer”, “Molly’s Chambers”, “Echoing”, “Use Somebody”, “Revelry”, “The Bucket” and ending with “Sex on Fire”.

A fun fact I heard from some fans on the way back home is that the band name originates from their grandfather Leon, so they are the Kings of Leon. [Genius name for the band].

An excellent experience again in the O2 Arena. I wouldn’t want to miss this in any way. To see some vids of the concert, go to this highlight on Instagram. Or one special vid for you below.

HELLO LONDON | YAYOI KUSAMA – INFINITY MIRROR ROOMS

Hello Beautiful Souls, I am so excited to share this experience by Kusama with you. Luckily a friend managed to get us tickets [with some bubbles] to the infinity mirror rooms by Yayoi Kusama. After the exhibition, we went to floor six to enjoy the stunning sunset from the bar.

The exhibition at Tate Modern is not huge, but it is worth it. Yayoi Kusama is an excentric artist and writer. She is known for her installations, but she also did lots of painting, sculptures and performed art. Yayoi nowadays lives in Japan since 1973 in a mental health care hospital due to acute hallucinations. Yayoi was born in 1929 and moved to the land of freedom [USA] in the 60s. She spent her life in the fast-moving art scene in New York City. She experienced visual hallucinations when she was a child. She transformed her visual hallucinations into her art for us to see how she sees the world.

The universe as seen from the stairway to heaven
The first sculpture is a peep-through box with mirrors. From every hole you peep through, you will find an infinite reflection of multi-coloured circles.

Chandelier of Grief
The chandelier of grief is the first infinity mirror room of the exhibition. If you look up or down in this room, you will see an infinite reflection of chandeliers twirling with a flickering light.

Walking Piece
Yayoi moved from Japan to New York City in the 60s. The pictures taken of Kasuma by Eikoh Hosoe portray the lonely life she experienced in New York. He captured the sense of isolation with a distorting fish eye camera lens.

The infinity mirrored room – Filled with the brilliance of life
This room is truly one of a kind experience. You feel like you are in Outerspace and can get lost if you stay there for hours. Unfortunately, you have limited time to spend inside this room. [So go a second or third time if you can].

Mirror Performance
The pictures in this section give you an idea of how Kusama worked in the 60s when she started to make these mirror rooms. She is displaying her artwork on the US society [back then] when women wanted the right to equality and freedom to pursue careers and sexuality.

Portraits by Eikoh Hosoe
Hosoe aims to capture the inner worlds and outer worlds of artists. In these portraits, you can see he uses some techniques to display distortion and dramatic contrasts.

In the Studio
The film displayed on the wall in this part of the exhibition of Kusama in her studio in New York City was filmed by [filmmaker and lecturer] John Jones.

This exhibition is till September 2022, which is way passed when this blog is out. I hope you got a chance to see the infinity rooms by Kusama or any other of her work. Yayoi Kusama as a contemporary artist was way ahead of her time. It is truly fascinating to see her work fitting in the time we live in at the moment.

HELLO LONDON | LEON BRIDGES THE GOLD DIGGERS SOUND TOUR

Hello Beautiful Souls! Are you ready for a new weekly blog post? I know I am because this post is [such] a fun and wonderful memory I experienced here in London this summer. [To be honest, I had many lovely experiences this summer. And you know it, I am sharing them all here with you guys!]

Leon Bridges is my second concert this year. [Whoop whoop, I bought my ticket a year before, with so much anticipation]. He is such a soulful [talented] singer and songwriter. This time I went to the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith to [fully] enjoy Leon Bridges and his special guest Kirby with a friend. I was super thrilled the moment I knew Kirby was going to be the special guest. She is an incredible [funky] artist as well. I love her song – I Love Me Too. [Such power to women!] We were lucky enough to hear her perform this song that night.

And off we went to have a good time in the Eventim Apollo. Time flew by. This place is much more intimate and cosy than [for example] an O2 arena. It is perfect for an artist like Leon Bridges. He blew us [all] away with some of his greatest songs, like Beyond, Bad Bad News, River, Brown Skin Girl and some more, next to his new album, Gold-Diggers Sound. One of my favourites of this album is Don’t Worry and Blue Mesas.

His performance was outstanding. I love it when the artist gives that little extra and surprise us with some beautiful solos at the end. See some videos of the concert under this highlight on my Instagram.

HELLO LONDON | MAGIC MIKE LIVE

Hello Beautiful Souls! This week’s blog post is [kind of] hot and horny, so who is in! By the way, I am directly thinking of Ginuwine [Pony] when I think of Magic Mike. Who else is with me?

OH YEAH, we finally did it! We [my lovely cousin and I] went to Magic Mike Live at the Hippodrome in Leicester Square. [Whoop Whoop] Let me tell you; Magic Mike was as horny and fun as the movies.

Don’t worry about where your seats are. The experience is 360-degree entertainment, so a sexy “Mike” will pop up from every corner. Please keep your eyes open because they might come closer. Just don’t melt away.

Expect a lot of magic during the show. You will [definitely] not be disappointed. Sneak peeks are [also] under the Jubilee highlight on my Instagram or below. Great for a girls’ night out or a date [depends on how well you know each other, I guess].
