HELLO LONDON | BATTERSEA POWER STATION

Hello Beautiful Souls! This week’s blog post is about the reopening of the Battersea Power Station. It was a decommissioned coal-fired power station completed in 1955. The opening of the power station was on the 14th of October last year. I haven’t been on their opening day. I went a month later to see the Battersea fireworks nearby at Battersea Park and had a quick look at the power station.

The building itself is massive and gorgeous. The Grade II listed Power Station is one of London’s most famous landmarks. There are so many luxurious shops, restaurants and even a cinema inside. The inside of the building has been intact magnificently. It is a great place to stroll around in winter or summer. The only thing is that the area is focussed on the ‘wealthy’ among us that it might not be accessible for all.

One experience to try here is to go to the chimney lift, lift 109. you will have a mesmerising 360 view of the city.

HELLO LONDON | BELLA VITA ACADEMY

Hello Lovely People, Welcome back to a new Hello London blog post! Last year in October, I went for our team building event to this cooking class at Bellavita Academy.

If you like MasterChef, then this is definitely for you. We were divided into four groups to make our Spanish dinner in only 75 minutes. I was in team Barcelona and responsible for the paella. The complete dinner had some patatas bravas, mushroom bruschetta, meatballs in tomato sauce, salad and a cheesecake next to the paella.

If you can’t cook, don’t worry. There are four chefs helping everyone out, so you will make it in time. I enjoyed making the paella. The hard part is to help your teammates out when it is already stressing about finishing your recipe. In the end, we made it. I did enjoy each dish we made.

It is a kind of MasterChef with the competition element in it. After the chefs judged our results and they announced the winners. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my group, but I got great compliments from the chefs for my paella. So I am very proud of myself anyway.

If you are looking for some teambuilding event with work or friends [and love cooking], look no further, this is an excellent option! You can even do Italian wine tasting, which I might do next.

HELLO LONDON | JACK THE RIPPER GUIDED TOUR

Hello Beautiful Souls! As part of last year’s Halloween, I went on the Jack the Ripper Halloween tour by London Walks. Don’t worry the Halloween tour is not as scary as it sounds.

It was very intriguing to hear about each murder the Ripper did in detail and all the conspiracy theories behind it. I don’t want to say too much because the tour is worth every penny.

The guides from London Walks are incredible storytellers. They take you back into the period when these murders happened and at the crime scene. London city at night is the perfect decor to walk around these places where it must have happened.

HELLO LONDON | HALLYU! THE KOREAN WAVE

Hello, Beautiful Souls! Today I’m excited to share my recent visit to the Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. As someone who’s fascinated by Korean culture and its global impact, I couldn’t wait to experience this celebration of all things Hallyu.

The exhibit spans several sections, each dedicated to a different aspect of Korean culture, from history to fashion, film, music, and more. The first section delves into the history of Korea, offering insights into the country’s past, its traditions and customs, and how it has evolved. As someone who knew [very] little about Korean history, I found this section [particularly] fascinating and informative.

Moving on to the film industry section, I was blown away by the creativity and innovation of Korean filmmakers. From iconic movie scenes to original costumes, this section showcased the beauty and diversity of Korean cinema. It was interesting to learn about the history of Korean cinema and how it has influenced the industry worldwide.

Another highlight of the exhibit was the section dedicated to K-pop, one of the biggest cultural exports from Korea. From the early days of K-pop to the global phenomenon it is today, this section showcased the evolution of the music genre, including iconic outfits worn by K-pop stars. I am not a K-pop fan, but I loved learning about the history and culture behind this popular genre.

What I loved most about the exhibit was its attention to detail. From the lighting to the sound to the placement of the exhibits, everything was designed to create an immersive experience. One of the most fun aspects of the exhibit was the chance to learn some K-pop dance moves and be featured in a video clip. This interactive experience was a great way to engage visitors and make them feel part of the exhibit.

All in all, the Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in Korean culture or looking for a fun and immersive experience. Whether you’re a fan of K-pop, Korean cinema, or just curious about Korean history and traditions, this exhibit offers something for everyone. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to learn about the impact of Korean culture on the world and the importance of understanding and celebrating diversity.

The exhibit is open until June 25th, so you still have plenty of time to experience the magic of Hallyu!

In conclusion, if you’re a fan or not of Korean culture, the Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibit at the V&A is a must-see. It’s a fantastic celebration of all things Hallyu, and an opportunity to learn, engage and be inspired by the rich and diverse culture of Korea.
