HELLO LONDON | VAN GOGH – THE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Hello Beautiful Souls, Welcome back to another blog about a fun experience here in London. This time a friend asked me to join this immersive experience of Van Gogh. It is an experience and very enjoyable. This experience is a clever introduction to the art of Vincent van Gogh. You will find a lot of prints of the paintings of Van Gogh and his life story.

I missed the real art [paintings], but on the other hand, this is more an experience than an exhibition. However, I enjoyed walking around and finding out some facts about Vincents’ life. The VR experience is a recommendation. It is a ten minute VR about his life in the South of France and where he painted some of his [now] famous paintings. Next to the VR experience, the 360 degrees immersive room is impressive. Just relax and enjoy the digital art show.

The fun part is that you can colour in your own Van Gogh painting in the studio. It is a fun opportunity to chat and relax a bit. The immersive experience is until the end of May, so you still have a chance to go.

HELLO LONDON | RA – FRANCIS BACON

Hello Beautiful Souls, a recent visit to this magnificent exhibition of Francis Bacon in the Royal Academy of Arts is one of a kind, such an intense talent in contemporary art. This exhibition was until mid-April in the RA. The RA has many great exhibitions, so keep an eye on their latest exhibitions here. The RA has always been outstanding and displays a great collection of each artist they exhibit. I never get disappointed.

Francis Bacon
I got intrigued when seeing the ad about this exhibition on buses and in the Tube station, that I had to go and see it. It was worth every penny. Francis was such a fascinating artist, who had a lot of inner [dark] struggles. Francis Bacon was born in Ireland. He lived years of his life in London. Just like Picasso, he was successful in art, while he was alive.

Man and Beast

He was intrigued by the animal nature of humans. His pieces are one of a kind. The art is disturbing and intense, but on the other side, it keeps your attention on the work. The longer you look at his pieces, the more you get a grasp of his emotions and feelings at that moment. One of my favourite paintings is where one of his lovers, George Dyer, is the subject. He made a Triptych of this one. [It is a sad story.] Francis painted this Triptych after Dyer committed suicide. You can see the life slowly melting out of the figure in the painting. The longer you look at it, the more you feel the emotion of death and grief.

If you get an opportunity to go and see another exhibition of Francis Bacon, I would recommend going.

HELLO GEMS | RAI RESTAURANT

Hello Beautiful Souls! After ages ago [just joking a few months, I guess], I finally went to a restaurant for another fine dining experience. An absolute recommendation this is. I went for lunch at RAI, a Modern Japanese British restaurant. [Thanks to a new friend] The restaurant focuses on omakase-style tasting menus, which means, in other words, leave it up to the chef. It is a fusion concept of the highest quality Japanese dishes with unique ingredients from within the UK and abroad. Believe me, when I say you will not be disappointed.

I like that they are focused on sustainability as well. RAI uses a selection of recycled tableware that has been handcrafted from scratch, mostly found on beaches in the UK. Just masterpieces, if you ask me, beautifully crafted. Happy to see one of the owners, Executive Chef Padam Raj Rai, greeting me when I entered the restaurant. The experience could not start any better. Everyone was [very] friendly and helpful.

We were lucky to get our hands on an exclusive openings offer of £49,00 via TimeOut London. [Unfortunately, it is sold out, but keep an eye on their website for other offers] The aged soy sauce and freshly grated wasabi were from another level. These combined with the sashimi [with one of the best fatty tuna ever], I was in heaven. I will have to go back to try one of their other tasting menus with the Wagyu.

HELLO LONDON | &JULIET

Hello beautiful Souls! Another week, another musical. So happy with all the musicals I saw in 2022 till now. Surprisingly &Juliet is one of my favourite musicals by far, next to Hamilton. The story, the feel-good vibes, the jokes and the front row stall seats made the whole night perfect!

Sitting almost front row was magical. Seeing the faces of the performers up close is another level of excitement. I was lucky to see the original cast perform that night.

These are the performers of the night; Miriam- Teak Lee [&Juliet], Cassidy Janson [Anne], Oliver Tompsett [Shakespeare], David Bedella [Lance], Alex Thomas- Smith [May], Jordan Luke Gage [Romeo], Melanie La Barrie [Nurse], Tim Mahendran [Francois]. This night was the last weekend of the original cast performing after a few years. [How lucky was I, I saw this musical end of March]

Not going to spoil anything here, but the twist made in the story is brilliant. Finally, we can relate to this story of Shakespeare. I feel some female empowerment here [Go Anne!]. The songs are famous pop songs that you can sing along to and dance to. [I have all the songs on my playlist now] If you want to laugh, dance and sing along, this is the perfect musical to see. Lance and Angelique [Nurse] are just so funny. I fell in love with Juliet and her friends. The songs are added in the story perfectly to make you smile.
