I didn’t expect to love Busan this much. After coming from Japan, we needed a little time to adjust, but Busan surprised me with its relaxed coastal charm, vibrant markets, and beautiful sea views. While I personally found 4 days slightly too much if you want to see more destinations in South Korea, the city itself was surprisingly lovely and full of character.
If you’re planning your first trip to South Korea, Busan is one of the best cities to start with. It’s vibrant, coastal, easy to navigate, and full of culture, food, and scenic views.
Here’s my simple 4-day Busan itinerary with tips, highlights, and honest impressions to help you plan your own adventure.
Stay Connected
One thing I’ve learned from travelling is that landing in a new country already connected makes everything feel so much easier and less stressful. Before flying to South Korea, I topped up my data using Airalo, so I could use my phone as soon as I landed. 🏨 Where We Stayed
We stayed at City Hotel the Busan Metro, previously listed as Busan Station City Hote, which is conveniently located near Busan Station.
It’s a simple hotel, but very well connected by metro and public transport, making it perfect if you plan to explore the city extensively.

Day 1 City Views, Markets & Street Life
Our first activity was a city tour using Busan’s easy metro system.

We visited Busan Tower, which offers beautiful panoramic views of the port and skyline.
Tip: Go at sunset. The city lights, especially after dark, make the experience even better.

🛍 Shopping Streets & Local Markets
We walked along Gwangbok-ro Fashion Street and then explored Gukje Market for souvenirs and street snacks.
We stopped for coffee at Kkotbuine, famous as a filming location for the movie Ode to My Father.
🐟 Jagalchi Seafood Experience
No visit to Busan is complete without seeing Jagalchi Market, Korea’s most famous seafood market.
Nearby restaurants serve incredibly fresh seafood. I even tried sea urchin for the first time!

Day 2 Coastline Views & Cable Car
We visited Songdo Sky Park, where you can ride the scenic cable car over the ocean. The views of the beach and cliffs are stunning.
If you enjoy nature walks, there’s also a hiking trail here, but be prepared for uphill paths.
For a break from the heat, we stopped at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok for air-conditioning and a delicious Korean lunch/dinner.
Day 3 History Trip to Geoje Island
We took a transfer bus to Geoje P.O.W. Camp Historic Park on Geoje Island, about 1.5 hours from Busan.
This historical site is fascinating if you want to understand Korea’s past and wartime history. However, English explanations are limited, so I strongly recommend booking a guided tour.
Day 4 Night Cruise Experience
One of the most memorable experiences was a night cruise near Busan Yacht Club in the Marine City area.
The cruise lasts less than an hour, but the skyline views at night, especially with fireworks, are absolutely beautiful and worth it.
Final Thoughts: Are 4 Days in Busan Worth It?
Yes, absolutely. Busan is:
- Easy to explore
- Affordable
- Full of food and markets
- Rich in history
- Packed with scenic coastal views
I truly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The mix of sea breeze, street food, and city energy made it special. That said, if you’re planning a longer South Korea itinerary and want to see multiple cities, you might personally feel that 3 days are enough.

🌤 Best Time to Visit
Late September is ideal, when autumn begins. The weather becomes more comfortable, less humid, and the early fall atmosphere makes coastal walks even more enjoyable.
🚇 Transport Tips
Public transport is very easy with the T-money card, which you can buy at most convenience stores. You simply top it up and tap in and out on buses and the metro.
Although T-money balances can generally be refunded, our remaining amount was too small to buy anything in the convenience store. Rather than keep the card, I handed it to the cashier in case they could use the balance themselves.
Smaller balances can usually be refunded at convenience stores, while refunds over 50,000 won must be processed at Tmoney Town near Seoul Station. My tip is to estimate your top-ups carefully towards the end of your trip.
💸 Budget Estimate
Food in Busan is surprisingly affordable and of very good quality. I mostly ate at small local restaurants, and meals were usually under €10 per person.
However, you can also find Michelin-listed restaurants if you prefer a more upscale experience. It really depends on your travel style.
One thing I regret? Not trying a restaurant featured in Culinary Class Wars, the dishes always look amazing on TV! I can imagine those places get fully booked quickly, so if that’s on your list, definitely research and reserve in advance.
