HELLO LONDON | CRUISING ON THE RIVER THAMES

Hello Lovely People, Welcome back to a new Hello London blog post! I had incredible fun during our first team event after 1,5 years of not socialising with my colleagues. This time we went on a party boat on the River Thames. We had such beautiful sunny weather that day. We spend all afternoon on the River Thames.

It was my first time on a boat on the River Thames. It is a perfect way to see the city from a different perspective. We started from Waterloo pier to Canary Wharf, Greenwich and back to Westminster. At the end of the afternoon, we did stay on Southbank. We had some drinks at The BBQ club until late evening.

If you are looking for another way to enjoy the city, this is a perfect way! There are many boats that you can go on, on the River Thames. It will not disappoint.

Hello Fashion | Bags: Inside Out @V&A

Hello lovely people, welcome back to a new fashion blog in 2021. It has been a while since I have been to an exhibition, so when I saw this exhibition about bags recently, I had to go.

As some of you will know, I am quite a bag lover. I love well-executed bags from leather. [They are just a dream to have and to feel] It does not always have to be from a luxury brand, but seeing all kinds of beautiful handbags in this exhibition is just a sight for sore eyes. Not only will you see these beautiful handbags displayed. You will learn more about the process of how a leather handbag has been build from scratch to finishing product. The exhibition is sponsored by Mulberry.

For more details on how to get a ticket or information about the exhibition, go here. If you haven’t been yet, it is still possible to go until Sunday, 16 January 2022 at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

First impression

The exhibition starts with a bit of history of the purpose of a bag. The beginning of the exhibition is a great way to get you introduced to the evolution of bags. From what I understood, the beginning started with utility bags for men. Slowly bags were made for different purposes, for example, a bag for medicine.

Displays and settings

There are two floors in use at this exhibition. You will find some famous luxury bags from almost every luxury company.

Below a compilation of what you will find in the exhibition.

Final thoughts

I think the top floor is the best part. Here is displayed the complete process of how a handbag is made by hand. You will see all materials they use and how they start by making a prototype.

Here are some of the iconic handbags and luxury brands I liked while growing up. If you haven’t been to the exhibition yet, give it a go. it will be there till the beginning of 2022. Since you are already in the V&A, explore other parts of the museum for free… you will not regret it.

HELLO LONDON | #UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The Fight for Women’s Rights

Hello Lovely People, welcome back to a new Hello London blog post! This time a must-see exhibition at the British Library about the fight for Women’s Rights. The exhibition will be open until the 1st of August 2021. I believe if you go on a Tuesday, you will be able to see the exhibition for free. Check the British Library website for more information.

The exhibition covers how #feminist activism here in the UK has its roots in the history of women’s rights. You will get inspired by all those women who paved the way and fought for equality so we can live in a fairer world.

Get to know about these powerful women and how they paved the way to make the world more equal. Starting from Cornelia Sorabji, who is the first woman to study law at Oxford University to Hope Powell, the first British woman to gain the highest European football coaching license. Find out about many amazing Suffragettes, Contemporary activist groups and challengers of recent years and the causes they fight for.

One of my favourite activists is Jameela Jamil. I love the movement she started in 2018 on Instagram with I weigh, which reminds us, women, that we are valuable and perfect in all shapes and forms. The beauty of this movement is to let us women realise we are more than looks, beautiful in our own way and not to feel obliged to keep up with what society wanted us to be.

As women, we need to stand together, keep fighting for equality and look out for each other. Be a friend, help other women out and acknowledge other women achievements. We can all learn from these powerful women. Let the exhibition inspire you to be a powerful woman as well.

HELLO LONDON | SUMMER LOVE FILM FESTIVAL

Hello Lovely People, Welcome back to the first Hello London blogpost of 2021! It has been a while no? I hope you are all well and managed to get through the second lockdown. Boris has decided to finally lift the restrictions in July, so there will be more Hello London content coming up your way! Whoop Whoop!

If you are in London, keep an eye on these posts. Always be careful, since we are still not covid-free, but also enjoy! We all deserve some quality time with the city as before.

The Summer Love Open – Air Film Festival from Everyman is happening as I speak. In July 2021, you will be able to catch up on so many great films. The line-up will be some cult classics, feel-good favourites, blockbuster bangers, Wimbledon and Tour de France. Just right at the canal steps near Granary Square. No ticket needed, but be aware that there is only limited space due to safety reasons.

So far, I did see the Italian Job, the original film from 1969 with Michael Caine. The sound is not the best, but the experience is perfect. See the full programme here. Now we just need to choose the perfect film, wait for a bit of sunshine and off we go..! Don’t forget your snacks 😉

Have a beautiful July!
