HELLO HOTEL | GRAND ROYALE LONDON HYDE PARK

Hello Beautiful Souls! Welcome back to this Friday’s blog post. Today, I’m excited to share my recent stay at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park hotel. This was my first time staying in a hotel in London since I am a [local] resident and do not usually require accommodation. However, I must say that this four-star hotel in a late Edwardian townhouse exceeded my expectations and was the perfect choice for a few days getaway in London.

Located in the heart of Bayswater, the Grand Royale London Hyde Park offers easy connectivity to the tube station Queensway and multiple bus stops, making it a convenient spot for [both] tourists and locals. The hotel’s exterior is [absolutely] stunning, and the grandeur continues as you step into the lobby area, which is spacious and beautifully decorated with wooden floors and elegant paintings, giving it a regal vibe.

The hotel was designed by renowned French architect and London Ritz designer Charles Frédéric Mewès, who created a stunning masterpiece that exudes luxury and elegance. The building was initially commissioned by Edward VII as a private residence for his mistress, Lilly Langtry, and its romantic charm is still palpable in the ravishing interiors that are adorned with polished wood panelling, marble fireplaces, and crystal chandeliers.

Moving on to my room, although it was [quite] small, it was cosy and had all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The bed was super comfortable, and the linens were soft and luxurious. The only downside was the wifi, which was not the best, but I didn’t mind as I was mostly out and about exploring the city.

When it comes to breakfast, the hotel provides a decent selection of food, including English breakfast, toast, cereals, fruits, and hot beverages. However, for the price of 15 pounds [or 12 pounds if you book in advance], you can have something better in the neighbourhood. So, if you’re a foodie like me, I suggest exploring the local cafes and restaurants for a more satisfying breakfast experience.

Overall, my stay at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park was pleasant. The hotel’s location, stunning exterior, and cosy rooms make it a great choice for a few days’ getaways in London. If you’re planning a trip to London anytime soon and looking for a cosy and affordable hotel (especially if you book way in advance), the Grand Royale London Hyde Park should [definitely] be on your list. Thanks for tuning in to this week’s blog post. Until next time, have a great weekend, and keep exploring!

HELLO LONDON | COLDPLAY LIVESTREAM IN CINEMA

Hello Beautiful Souls! How are we feeling today? I hope you’re ready for a fun and exciting blog post because I want to talk about Coldplay and their Music of Spheres world tour. Last October, the tour was aired live from Buenos Aires in cinemas around the world, and as a huge fan who had seen them live in Wembley, I was excited to see and hear them again in the cinema. But, I have to admit, being part of the concert is much better than watching it in the cinema.

Don’t get me wrong, the cinematic experience was great. The picture and sound quality were top-notch, and it was amazing to see the band perform on a big screen. But, there’s just something about being at a Coldplay concert that cannot be replicated in a cinema.

When you’re at a Coldplay concert, you’re not just a spectator, you’re part of the show. You’re surrounded by thousands of fans singing and dancing along to every song. The energy in the air is electric, and you can feel it pulsing through your body. The band members themselves are incredible performers, and they know how to get the crowd hyped up and engaged.

And let’s not forget the visuals. Coldplay concerts are known for their stunning light shows, pyrotechnics, and incredible stage setups. It’s an all-encompassing sensory experience that can’t be matched by watching it on a screen.

So, while the cinematic experience of the Music of Spheres world tour was great, it just wasn’t the same as being there in person. But, if you missed out on the tour or couldn’t make it to a concert, I still highly recommend watching the cinema release. It’s a great way to experience the magic of Coldplay and get a taste of what it’s like to be at one of their concerts.

In conclusion, Coldplay concerts are an experience like no other, and if you’re a fan, you need to attend at least one in your lifetime. The Music of Spheres world tour was just another incredible chapter in the band’s history, and I feel grateful to have been a part of it. Whether you catch them in person or on the big screen, one thing’s for sure, Coldplay will always bring the magic.

HELLO LONDON | ST. PAULS CATHEDRAL

Hello Beautiful Souls! This Friday is something I always wanted to do on a Sunday, attend a service at StPauls‘s Cathedral. Mainly to sneak a peak at the majestic architecture from the inside and to hear the organ.

If you are wondering, StPauls is an active Christian Church where you can attend service on Sunday. The only downside is you can’t take pictures and wander around. You can absorb the beauty and enjoy the sound of the organ and choir throughout the church.

Services start in the early morning. I did enjoy the afternoon service at 3 pm or the Eucharist at 5:30 pm. If you need to choose one service, go to the 3 pm. It is a great time to pop in and attend the service. The afternoon service is with the choir and organ, so you have a bit of everything.

The Eucharist at 5:30 pm is special [as in winter it is already dark outside]. The church’s inside is lightened with its chandeliers and candles. During this service, incense will be burned, which is a spectacle in itself.

Hello Fashion | Tim Walker: Wonderful Things

Hello Beautiful Souls! Finally, a fashion blog post for you after more than a year. I stumbled across this exhibit by Tim Walker in Kunsthal when I was in the Netherlands. The Kunsthal always has incredible exhibits. The last exhibit I saw here was Thierry Mugler, Couturissime. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. Thierry is a legacy of his own in Fashion.

If I am honest, I haven’t heard of Tim Walker before the exhibit. I was very keen from the moment I entered the exhibition to see what an incredibly inventive and imaginary mind this legend of a fashion photographer has. Tim got his first big assignment with Vogue when he was just 25 years old. The exhibit was in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London just before the pandemic till the beginning of 2020. It will be in California after Rotterdam.

The V&A assigned Tim to his most extensive assignment yet. Tim did a lot of inspiration in the V&A, which turned out to be more than 150 new series of photographs. These series are beyond magnificent.

Step into this exhibit with lots of wonders. Tim discovered surrealism already as a young photographer. The pastel cats are genius, which you will find in the first few rooms. Next is a room full of editorial shots of nudes. After this, you will go through the series Tim took inspired by the collection in the V&A. This exhibit is immense. There are around ten rooms in which Tim used the inspiration he gathered at the V&A for the assignment with them.

To get an impression of the exhibit, please see the highlight I created on my Instagram. It is nowhere near the real deal. The exhibition is truly worth seeing with your own eyes. Not sure when, but keep an eye out online to see where it is next.
