HELLO LONDON | JON BATISTE - SOUTH BANK CENTRE

Hello Beautiful Souls, On the longest and hottest day of 2025, I found myself debating whether to step out into the sweltering London heat. The tube was unbearable, and the idea of navigating it during a heatwave felt like a small personal challenge. But something in me knew I shouldn’t miss it. And I’m so grateful I listened to that voice because what awaited me at the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre was pure magic.

I went to see Jon Batiste, and from the moment he walked onto the stage, the atmosphere shifted. There is something truly special about watching a real artist do what they were born to do. He brought soul, joy, vulnerability and genius to the room, all wrapped up in a smile and boundless energy.Jon_Batiste_Southbank_centre_London

Although the show started a little later than planned, the Southbank team sent out an email letting us know, which was appreciated. Once the music began, time faded into the background. Jon’s performance was a beautiful mix of jazz, soul and storytelling. Whether he was playing the grand piano or the tiny toy hand piano, every note had emotion behind it. It wasn’t just music, it was a connection.

Everyone in the audience felt it. You could see it in the stillness, the spontaneous dancing, the joyful applause and the quiet tears. His music doesn’t just entertain, it reminds you of something important. For me, it was a strong and much-needed reminder that being who you are matters and expressing that truth is one of the greatest gifts you can share with the world.

If you ever get the chance to see Jon Batiste live, take it. His performance at the Southbank Centre on the summer solstice wasn’t just a concert. It was an experience, a soul reset and a celebration of art and authenticity. Despite the heat, despite the travel and the late start, it became one of those rare evenings that stay with you. Sometimes, choosing to show up makes all the difference.

With love,
