Hello Beautiful Souls,
Today’s English grammar note: When a story sparkles, we don’t just watch it, we feel it. This time, I stepped into a world of glitter, jazz, and heartbreak, yes, I finally saw The Great Gatsby: The Musical, and what a dazzling treat it was!
The cast was magnetic: Jamie Muscato gave us a brooding, charismatic Jay Gatsby; Frances Mayli McCann’s Daisy Buchanan had such depth and vulnerability in both voice and presence. I also adored Corbin Bleu (yes, from High School Musical fame!) as the thoughtful and steady Nick Carraway. From Amber Davies as Jordan Baker to Joel Montague as George Wilson, and Rachel Tucker as Myrtle Wilson, every performer brought their characters to life with fire and flair. And a special mention to Jon Robyns and John Owen-Jones, who nailed Tom Buchanan and Meyer Wolfsheim with such precision.
Set in the dazzling chaos of the Roaring Twenties, this show was a visual feast. Think gorgeous costumes, glittering gowns, and velvet suits that practically waltz on their own. The set design was stunning, and to my surprise, there were real cars on stage (!), making the whole experience feel incredibly immersive, almost like we were guests at Gatsby’s infamous parties ourselves.
But what truly made it special was the emotional depth and vocal brilliance of the leads. Daisy and Gatsby’s voices were simply beautiful. Their duets carried such rawness and elegance, adding extra layers to their complicated love story.
A little tip from me: if you’re tempted to go (and trust me, you should), try booking through TodayTix. I often find some lovely discounts there, it’s one of my favourite go-to apps for theatre nights in London.
The show runs until 7th September 2025, so there’s still time to grab your sequins and step into Gatsby’s world, but don’t wait too long.
For those who love a bit of theatre sparkle, romance, and vintage glamour, this is a must-see. I left the venue full of joy and a little bit of that Gatsby mystery.
