Hello Beautiful Souls,
Today’s English grammar note: “Wander often, wonder always.” Some days, the journey is just as good as the destination, especially when that destination includes a food market, sunshine, and a good bánh mì.
Recent Sunday, with clear skies and that rare London warmth, we decided to go for a canal-side walk from Angel to Victoria Park. And let me tell you, it’s a good one. Probably not the quietest route when the weather plays along, but the buzz of people out and about added to the vibe.
The walk follows the Regent’s Canal, winding through some of East London’s loveliest little nooks. If you’ve never done it, it’s the kind of walk that lets you see the city at its most relaxed, water, boats, wildflowers, and people just being. With sunshine in the mix? Absolute treat.
Once we made it to Victoria Park, the Sunday food market was already in full swing. It’s such a colourful mix, street food from every corner of the world, fresh bakes, natural wines, and stalls selling things you didn’t know you wanted until you saw them.
I went for a Vietnamese bánh mì with pork belly, and I can confidently say it was one of the best and biggest bánh mìs I’ve had. Crispy bread, pickled veggies, and that melt-in-your-mouth pork. Dreamy. We found a spot in the park, watched dogs being their charming selves, and just soaked it all in.
After a brief rest and some digestion time, we walked back to Angel, making it a round trip of approximately 16 km. And here’s the thing: after a long stroll and a very full belly, Angel is the perfect place to wind down. They have one of the best charity shops, which always feels like a little treasure hunt (and one of my all-time favourite slow Sunday activities).
Final thoughts?
- This is the kind of walk I’d do again and again, especially on a sunny day.
- Come for the walk, stay for the bánh mì.
- And don’t skip those Angel charity shop gems on your way home, you are not too tired.
With Love,
