ROTTERDAM | CATCH THE GOOD VIBES

Hello Lovely readers and welcome back to another (the new normal) travel blog on misswidjaja.com. As you know, so far, I have been to charismatic Amsterdam, creative Eindhoven during my holidays, but let’s not forget my beautiful hometown Rotterdam. The city full of architecture and good vibes, if I can say so myself.

Each time I go back home, I fall in love with its beauty. Mainly because the city continues evolves. So this time I soaked up the beauty of the architecture and street art in Rotterdam.

Just like London, you can pretty much walk everywhere in the city centre and enjoy the view. This is exactly what I did with my mom, we did a 7k strolling through the city centre to see if we can spot some street art and capture some great pictures of architecture. However, we got some Dutch weather, which means it was raining a lot of the time. As Dutchies this should not ruin your afternoon walk, so we enjoyed our walk just as much. I even think it helped the pictures to come out stronger, let me know what you think in the comments below?

The pictures below are all taken with, my Honor 10 mobile phone. I wanted to leave the pictures unedited and capture the moment as it is. Focusing on the architecture, I am quite happy with the pictures I took. So many historical buildings next to all the new and modern architecture. It is just like finding some sweet candies in some corners of the city, which made me smile a lot.

First of all the pictures of all the beautiful architecture in the city centre captured on that day.

Some of the street art we found along the way of our stroll in beautiful Rotterdam.

EINDHOVEN | STRIJP-S

Hello Lovely readers and welcome back to another (the new normal) travel blog on misswidjaja.com. Next stop I have been in the Netherlands is Eindhoven (de gekste) and especially the area Strijp- S. Thanks to my lovely cousin, who brought me here, I have seen this beautiful, creative neighbourhood of Eindhoven with lots of architecture and street art.

Eindhoven is definitely a recommendation if you are travelling through the Netherlands. People are very friendly here in the South of the Netherlands. The Strijp-S area, almost makes you feel like you are in Shoreditch, London. A lot of creativity going on and each building is so differently beautiful.

There are some pretty places we had some drinks and or food in. The first one is Zwart Wit Koffie, it’s a lovely place that almost looks like a cosy wooden cabin. First time trying their home-brewed coffee cold, which had a peculiar, but good taste. I will never forget the salmon sandwich I had here if you are in this area give it a go. They are just handmade in heaven, so delicious. Thank you, cousin, for bringing me to this lovely place.

Next stop, in between strolling around to see some street art and beautiful architecture, is MOOD on Strijp-S. It was a lovely day to sit on their terrace and drink a Gin tonic with some dim sum. The restaurant itself is beautiful, even the toilets are fancy. If you are looking for a perfect romantic place for a date, look no further.

After strolling around we went back to the city centre, which is not so far of a walk from Strijp-S to have some dinner at The Roast Club. This was meat heaven, slow-cooked meat and some good Belgium beer, what else do you need? Excellent choice by my cousin to go to this place. Enjoyed from the starters, our conversation, the beer to the main dish. This is definitely a recommendation for the meat lovers between us. To finish the night we went to Bobby’s Bar for our last cocktail of the night.

Bobby’s Bar

The sky bar, VANE, is a place you have to try as well. From the sky bar, you will have the best view of the city centre of Eindhoven.

The below pictures will give you an impression of Eindhoven, which I discovered on that day, has a lot to offer if you love architecture and art. I might go to the street art festival next time.

AMSTERDAM | DURING COVID

Hello Lovely readers and welcome back to a new (the new normal) travel blog on misswidjaja.com. This year during the COVID- 19 pandemic, I haven’t been able to travel at all. Unfortunately, my holidays to Costa Rica and Paris has been cancelled because of the pandemic. Luckily I am fortunate enough to at least see my family back in the Netherlands during these two weeks.

Super excited to have spent some time with my family after six months, all with social distances measurements of course. I am so proud to be part of my awesome family, who knows how to enjoy a good party. Not sharing all personal events we did during those two weeks on my blog, but they are available on my Instagram if you are curious.

Where to begin, we were lucky enough to take a few days off to see beautiful Amsterdam with my mom and aunt. Before we went to Amsterdam, there was an announcement from the government that the city centre of Amsterdam would be more restricted because of some increasing cases of COVID infections.

We decide to still go and it was definitely the right decision to make. The city centre was pretty much empty. I never saw the Dam Square and Kalverstraat so empty. Just like London, those days were almost without any foreign tourists. I would say, enjoy it while it lasts. Of course, everywhere you go within the city centre, you will need to wear your mask in certain streets and all the shops. We made sure not to go to busy places, which was an easy job to do because the city centre was basically empty.

Some recommendation to go to, in Amsterdam and where I have been going is the Anne Frank House. It was my second time here, but still, impressive to be in that house and to hear her story again. Her story marks a historical period of the Netherlands during the second world war. Like her many Jews were affected by the war. Always good to see that there are people who are willing to help others, even if it endangers their own lives.

Another thing we went to is the NEMO science museum. Might be more fun for kids, but definitely a joy to scroll around and learn hands-on how some experiments actually work. The rooftop terrace with beautiful weather is definitely worth strolling through three or four floors of experiments and kids hanging around, up to the rooftop. For those who only want to drink something at the rooftop, there is a separate entrance to reach it.

Another place I went to is café Loetje, a typical Dutch cafe, which is near the Central Station on the canal side. When the weather is right, we Dutchies, love to be out and about to drink and eat some bitterballen on a café terrace. I have to admit, I love Dutch snacks and I really miss them in London. I would say, try them all when you are in the Netherlands, you will be able to find them almost on every corner.

The hotel we stayed in is Fine Harmony Amsterdam. It is a ten-minute walk from Central Station and next to the majestic Grand Hotel Amratt Amsterdam. It is Eco-friendly hotel with friendly and professional staff members, especially one in particular, Mr Romario. He fixed our television in our room, the aircon and he even left some delicious chocolates for us. Super sweet and very helpful those days.

To give you an impression of Amsterdam, I took these pictures below. I have a special interest in architecture and street art if you haven’t noticed yet on my blogs. This is what I was aiming for in Amsterdam while strolling around the city centre. Just enjoying the beauty of the city.

This city has so much character, so hopefully, this will show in my pictures as well. Pictures are all taken with my mobile phone HONOR 10 without editing. It is just a part of a huge photo collection I took, which downside is that is hard to select a few for you guys.

Hope you can see the art and beauty of Amsterdam through my pictures in the architecture, street art and our stroll through the city centre. Enjoy!

HELLO LONDON | SUNSET WALK

Hello Lovely People and welcome back to a new Hello London blogpost! Recently I have been really enjoying our walks in the city. I feel blessed to live so close to everything in the city centre. It is nice to finally enjoy and discover London with just an evening walk.

A long walk, but very beautiful in the evening is a walk from Black Friars to Tower Bridge and back. Especially when the sunsets. This walk for me, with some detours, is just around 12km. Trust me, 12km with so much beauty is worth the walk.

Walking in the beautiful summer weather doesn’t feel so long, it will take around 4 hours. I really take in the view as I pass by so many new discoveries. London has such amazing architecture. I have seen so many new spots/ buildings that I definitely want to go back to.

Below some of the impression of the route we walked. I recommend bringing your camera as there is so much beauty to catch on film. Great to have those memories for later. These pictures are not edited. All are taken with my Honor 10 phone.
