Hello, Beautiful Souls, Today’s English grammar note: “Travelling can be bittersweet, but lunch can sweeten the goodbye.” And that’s exactly what this lunch at Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross felt like, a gentle pause before the goodbye.
After a few lovely days with my mum, celebrating my birthday and making special memories together, it was time for her to travel back home. But instead of rushing through the chaos of London’s peak hours (hello 4 pm–7 pm madness), we gave ourselves a little space. A moment to breathe, relax, and enjoy one last lunch together.
We chose Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross, a place I now think of as one of the best and most relaxed spots for lunch while travelling. It’s tucked away just enough to escape the rush, yet conveniently close to the Eurostar entrance at St. Pancras. Bonus points: it’s not too busy, and the layout makes it easy even if you’re carrying luggage.
I started with some arancini balls, which were crispy, comforting, and just the right size to snack on before my main. Then I went for a steak sandwich, which, honestly, is always a safe and satisfying choice. My mum went for something chicken-based, and while I can’t recall the exact dish name, she gave it a thumbs up!
And then came dessert, a chocolate egg filled with ice cream. Visually? Very cute. Taste-wise? Just okay. But by then, we were already so full and happy that it didn’t matter too much.
What we both loved were the fresh smoothies, I went for the green one packed with veggies, and my mum had a berry-rich red one. So refreshing and such a nice balance to our meals.
The vibe here is chill, modern, and welcoming, ideal for travellers, especially if you have some time to kill and want to avoid the crowded coffee chains. Prices are reasonable, the food is solid, and while it may not be the best culinary stop in the King’s Cross area, it’s great value and super convenient.
Final thoughts?
