HELLO FASHION | NAOMI IN FASHION @V&A

Hello Beautiful Souls,

I recently had the pleasure of visiting one of my favourite museums, the V&A in South Kensington, to experience the breathtaking “Naomi in Fashion” exhibit. This exhibit runs until April 6, 2025, so plenty of time for you to plan a visit. As always, the V&A has curated an incredible exhibit that you’ll want to take your time to fully appreciate.

Naomi, Campbell, Exhibition, at, V&A, showcasing, Naomi's, fashion, career, Vogue, cover, Azzedine, Alaïa, iconic, designer, clothes, photographs, London, museumNaomi Campbell is a true icon and a pioneer for dark-skinned models. She is highly respected in the world of fashion, and this respect is evident as you walk through the exhibit. Her extraordinary career is showcased through the stunning designer clothes she wore, created by renowned designers, and the most beautiful photographs taken by top photographers.

The exhibit offers a deep dive into her creative collaborations, her activism alongside Nelson Mandela, and the significant impact she has had on culture. It is inspiring to see how Naomi has used her platform to make a difference, all while maintaining her status as a fashion legend. The exhibit does a fantastic job of highlighting not just her glamorous side, but also her dedication to important causes and her influence in pushing for diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry.

From her early days on the runway to her groundbreaking magazine covers, every piece tells a story of resilience, talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Notably, Naomi was the first black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1988, a milestone that paved the way for many others. The gowns, tailored suits, and casual wear she modelled are a testament to her versatility and the trust top designers have placed in her to bring their creations to life.

Their collaboration is a highlight, showcasing how their bond transcended the professional realm and influenced the fashion world profoundly.

If you are a fashion enthusiast, the V&A’s exhibits are among the best in the world, and this one is no exception. The level of detail and curation put into “Naomi in Fashion” makes it a must-see. I highly recommend getting your tickets to see this exhibit and immersing yourself in the life and legacy of one of fashion’s greatest icons.

MY YEAR IN REVIEW | 2024 HIGHLIGHTS

Hello Beautiful Souls,

A year has come to an end, and what a journey it has been! From milestones and unforgettable travels to moments of art, culture, and cherished family time, 2024 has been a year of growth and gratitude. As I reflect on these highlights, I’m reminded of the joy in embracing life fully—its lessons, laughter, and love.

My Year in Review: 2024 Highlights

January: Started the year in London, mesmerized by the Battersea Power Station Light Festival. Fingers crossed it returns in 2025 because it was absolutely stunning.

February: I turned 40 this month! A milestone that shifted my perspective—it’s been the year of choosing me, letting go of what doesn’t serve my life anymore. I celebrated with an unforgettable dinner at Park Heuvel in my hometown, surrounded by family.

March: Immersed myself in art and empowerment at the V&A. The “Diva” exhibit and one on Pasquarosa, an inspiring Italian artist I had never heard of before, made me reflect deeply on women’s strength and creativity. ✨

April: Family trip to Bali (minus my mum, who thankfully recovered and is doing great now). Explored the island with lots of excursions, laughter, and adventure. Even a flight cancellation to Dubai couldn’t dampen our spirits—it gave us extra days to soak it all in.

May: Back home in London, I indulged in city life:

  • Drinks in Notting Hill
  • Masterpieces like Caravaggio at the National Gallery
  • An emotional experience with the Expressionists at Tate Modern
  • Hosted a brunch for a dear friend

June: Music, art, and milestones:

  • Saw my favorite band, Kings of Leon, at BST Hyde Park
  • Got chills at the terrifying Stranger Things: The Play
  • Explored Sargent and Fashion at Tate Britain
  • Celebrated love at my cousin’s wedding in the Netherlands ❤️

July: Art and culture overload:

  • The Naomi Campbell Exhibit at the V&A
  • The unforgettable musical Cabaret
  • The Barbie Exhibit at the Design Museum—a reminder of Barbie’s evolution and empowerment
  • Also added some cosy touches to my home

August: Jet-set month!

  • Brindisi: Invited by a lovely acquaintance. Despite the heat, I lived in the sea and loved every second ☀️
  • Paris with my mum: Delighted to see her back to her vibrant self. We walked, laughed, ate, and bonded like never before. Even found Parisians to be extra kind this time!
  • Renewed my passport and spent time with my favourite cousin in Eindhoven ❤️

September: A quieter month to focus on myself. Started studying web development with SheCodes ‍ and marveled at the Van Gogh “Lovers & Poets” Exhibit at the National Gallery. ✨

October:

  • A quick trip to the Netherlands to see Fred & Friends with my mum and aunt—a yearly tradition I treasure
  • Dipped my toes into a Halloween girls-only meetup but realized it wasn’t for me.

November: Hosted my favourite couple in London! Highlights:

December: Wrapped up the year with joy:

  • Posted a reel of the St. Pancras Wicked Tree, and it hit 1600+ views!
  • My cactus bloomed (finally)!
  • Quality time in the Netherlands: laughter, love, and dinners with my mum and family. Highlights include:
    • Seeing Roue Verveer with mum and aunt
    • Visiting Blijdorp Zoo
    • Christmas Eve dinner at Jofel—their ribeye carpaccio was divine.

As 2024 ends, I’m thankful for all the memories and lessons this year brought me. Wishing everyone a beautiful, healthy, and joyful 2025! ❤️

xx, Miss Widjaja

HELLO LONDON | FESTIVE LUNCH @AQUASHARD

Hello Beautiful Souls!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with love, joy, and special moments with your family and loved ones. Today’s blog post still has a touch of festive sparkle because I’m taking you along to one of my recent culinary adventures. My family and I went to Aqua Shard to try their festive lunch menu, and let me just say—it was an experience worth every penny.

A Festive Feast at Aqua Shard
Aqua Shard is known for its breathtaking views of London from one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. While their festive menu is priced on the higher side—we spent around £100 per person, including some delicious glasses of wine—the experience is truly something special if you’re looking to splurge a little this holiday season.

For context, I’ve been to Aqua Shard before for a regular lunch, which was much more affordable (around £50 per person). So, the festive pricing might be the seasonal charm!

British Christmas with a Dutch Twist
Since my family from the Netherlands joined me, I wanted them to experience a classic British-style festive lunch, and Aqua Shard delivered beautifully. We kicked things off with pigs in blankets—an ideal British holiday treat. My family loved the idea of combining crispy bacon with sausages—simple, yet oh-so-satisfying!

Starters
For my starter, I chose the Lincolnshire celeriac velouté. It was topped with shimeji mushrooms, croutons, and truffle butter—a fully vegan dish, though I must admit I picked it purely for the truffle butter (not sorry!). The flavour was rich and creamy, a perfect winter warmer.

Other options included:

  • Whisky-cured salmon
  • Hertfordshire goat’s curd & salt-baked beetroot

Both looked equally tempting and had glowing reviews from my family members.

Mains
For my main course, I couldn’t resist the mushroom tortellini, featuring—you guessed it—white truffle! Each bite was an explosion of earthy flavours, elevated by the luxurious aroma of truffle. If you’re a truffle lover like me, you’ll appreciate the delicate yet bold balance of this dish.

Cheese Heaven
To finish off, I went all-in on the truffle theme with the truffled Baron Bigod artisan cheese. While it was an additional supplement, it was absolutely worth it. Creamy, tangy, and decadently infused with white truffle, it was the perfect ending to a truffle-laden meal.

Wines
Though we skipped the wine pairing option, we enjoyed a few glasses of exceptional wine:

  • A crisp and fresh Verdejo
  • A rich and elegant Rioja Valdegar

The wines complemented the dishes wonderfully, enhancing the flavours without overpowering them.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience with stunning panoramic views of London, Aqua Shard is a must-visit. Whether for a special occasion or just a treat-yourself moment, their festive menu is a memorable way to celebrate the season. The truffle-focused dishes truly stole the show for me, but there’s something on the menu for everyone.

Have you been to Aqua Shard? If so, please let me know your favourite dish or what you’d love to try next time!

Until next time, stay festive and fabulous!

With love,
Miss Widjaja
