HELLO LONDON | BST FESTIVAL HYDE PARK

Hello Beautiful Souls, are you ready for today’s blog post? This post will be about my first ever British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park last July. [Whoop whoop] Let me tell you, the day was perfect! Great sunny weather, good company and many magical performances. I can’t wait for what is in store for the next BST Festival in 2023.

Hyde Park is huge. There were three small stages [Cuban Garage Stage, Rainbow Stage and The Birdcage Stage] next to the main stage [The Great Oak Stage]. The performance we saw that day was by [upcoming artist] JJ Wilde, Johnny Marr, and Stereophonics. The main act was Pearl Jam.

This BST organised everything pretty well from food stalls to great new toilets [which most of them were clean and with lots of light inside the dixi]. The bar for drinks was not extremely busy, also lots of quality food for everyone. The organisers allowed a bottle of water that you could refill during the day, which with the hot weather [28 degrees celcius] was [very] needed and welcome.

Most people were there for Pearl Jam [of course], who gave us an outstanding performance next to Stereophonics [as well]. We stayed until the sun went down. The last song by Pearl Jam was around 10 pm. Next year I might bring a blanket [to sit on] and a jacket for the evening as [always in London] the evening was slightly colder.

It was such a fun day. The weather was still lovely at night, so we decided to walk home. The BST Festival is one of the festivals here in London that you should [definitely] experience once in a lifetime.

See some of the highlights here on my Instagram or REELS.

HELLO CHRISTMAS | THREE HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN CENTRAL LONDON

Hello Beautiful Souls! Just three days away from Christmas. Are we excited to celebrate the festive days with loved ones, friends, family or even by yourself? I know I am. I am spending time with my lovely family in the Netherlands for Christmas. The Beautiful Souls in or heading to London these days are lucky because I have some “special” Christmas content for you. Next to The ultimate guide to see Christmas lights in one day [last week’s blog post], I am showing you some festive Christmas markets in central London this week.

The first Christmas market is on Trafalgar Square in front of the National Gallery and the Norway spruce Christmas tree. Did you know Norway is giving a native spruce for Christmas to thank the UK for its support during World War II every year? Me neither, so now you know.

This Christmas market has the original Christmas spirit with lots of German snacks and drinks. Strolling on this market can’t go wrong with a tasty German bratwurst and mulled wine in your hands. If you still need [some] Christmas gifts, then this is the perfect place for you.

The second Christmas market is in Leicester Square. This market is also a lovely festive market with a jolly Christmas soul. [In the end,] all Christmas markets have the same “Christmassy” feeling with similar food and merchandise stalls. They are all still enjoyable, but this one in Leicester Square might be the busiest [of them all].

The third Christmas market is a hidden market on Paternoster Square near St. Paul’s Cathedral. This market is open till the 23rd of December so start with this market if you plan to stay for a few days. There are not a lot of stalls here, but you can get [some] gourmet street food next Christmas gifts and crafts.

I hope you enjoyed the Christmas blog posts here. I wish every one of you a delightful cosy Christmas!

HELLO LONDON | THE LION KING

Hello Beautiful Souls. It is time for another musical! This time it is a musical I already saw in 2020 and once in the Netherlands. Originally this was a birthday gift, but with a change of plans, I was lucky another friend could join. I booked stall seats to see it from upfront. It was stunning!

The Lion King is a very significant musical. Today [The day we went in July] was full of children in the theatre. It is surprising [to me] to see people who are there for the first time being mesmerised by the show. It was spectacular and funny as each time with Timon and Pumbaa.

If you want to see one musical with young ones [when you are in London] go for this one. You will have as much fun as your young ones.

HELLO CHRISTMAS | THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO SEE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN ONE DAY

Hello Beautiful Souls! It is my favourite time of the year, Christmas! What better place to visit during Christmas is [of course] London! London has such a lovely Christmas Spirit. Most of the streets are so festive and cosy. There is so much to see in each neighbourhood. It is [definitely] worth a visit to stroll around these streets during this time of the year. So here is the ultimate guide to seeing some festive Christmas lights in just one day.

Where to find the best places for festive Christmas lights in London in a day?

Where to begin? Oxford Street is always a good place to start. This street leads to many more. The lights here are lovely falling stars. From Oxford Street, go to Regent Street to see the most beautiful Angels.

The next stop is Carnaby Street, where you will find a colourful collage of festive Christmas lights. I love the theme with the planets. Not too far from here, you will find Bond Street. On Bond Street, you will see the most mesmerizing Christmas displays at all those luxury shops.

Up to Mayfair, you will find the incredible Christmas display of the private club Annabel’s and pretty lights at the Ritz. If you have some time left, go to the Claridge’s to see their Christmas tree and go for a fancy drink at one of their bars.

The last stop is back on the Piccadilly to Fortnum and Mason. The building itself looks like an advent calendar with beautiful intense red lights. Don’t miss their Christmas window displays. They are telling such a cosy Christmas story.
